Home is a fluid concept; it’s where I feel comfortable and safe. Some people define it as a specific place, others state its where loved ones are. For many there is a difference between origins and home. This work explores the complexities in defining home as a place and home as an abstract concept. Incorporating the text from responses into the images provides an opportunity for the viewer to engage with the work, and ultimately start a dialogue about their own definitions of home and how they were created. The imagery I create is based on documentary and street photography. Through the process of interviewing both Denver natives and international travelers downtown, themes about the ideas of home emerge. I develop relationships with strangers in a big city, bringing the anonymity of urban life to a stop.
